What’s in our October 2021 Newsletter: Into Africa Auction was a SUCCESS!  ~ Partnering for Progress is Hiring

Into Africa Auction was a SUCCESS!

Dear P4P Friend,

“If you want a project slowed down, put it in a committee” is often a theme in today’s corporate world. However, just the opposite was true of this year’s Into Africa Auction committee. Give a small, dedicated group of people a large project, with a looming deadline, a small budget, and turn them loose. What you get is a very successful P4P fundraiser. This year’s Into Africa Auction raised $51,000, because of the vision, dedication, creativity, and commitment of this committee.

Co-Chairs Eileen Dugger and Patti Krafft would like to thank everyone who supported Into Africa, and we want to say a special asante sana to:

P4P part-time staff Dia Maurer, Lee Fowler and Peggy Gallinger did an outstanding job. Together, they managed the data entry, silent auction design, and placement for each auction item, graphic design, newsletter and eblast contributions and distribution, and provided overall management for the many moving pieces of the auction effort. Their teamwork made the entire event possible.

Linda Hagen Miller, who has been a member of the auction committee for many years, prepared detailed and interesting descriptions for each auction item. The patience she exhibited when those items just kept coming, even after the deadline, was admirable. In addition, she prepared wonderful newsletter articles and eblast messages to promote the event.

Vicky Markussen also contributed auction item descriptions and was responsible for the program planning, layout, and implementation of every second of the live auction, writing scripts, slide design, placement of graphics, photos, and text. This is a huge job, which she performed expertly. Whitworth student Courtney Iseman expertly edited and captioned video.

Annie Gokey once again did an outstanding job with data input, which was vital for organizing the auction items.

Rose Backs, our auctioneer, and her assistant, David, did a wonderful job again this year. They are a professional team, and we were fortunate to engage their excellent services.

Sandy Ivers arranged for the donation of the hotel room used for the live auction at the Hilton Garden Inn, which was vital to the process.

Megan Hershey, P4P chairperson, and Nereah Obura, P4P's Kenya Program Coordinator, videotaped welcoming, heartfelt videos, and Dia Maurer presented sincere closing comments.

Stacey Mainer, Barbara Morkill, and Megan Hershey texted or called P4P supporters to urge them to bid, attend, donate and otherwise support P4P.

Jasmine Albinson and Linda Jones of Desautel Hege donated their time and talents to creating the graphic design elements that we used throughout the auction.

Eryn Brooks, whose short video created a couple of years ago, fit perfectly into the pre-show program.

Many people created baskets or procured auction items and several businesses generously donated to this effort. This event is simply not possible without each and every one of you.

Another aspect of a virtual auction is delivery and/or shipment of all of the auction items. Many hands make light work was evident here thanks to volunteers Garry Morgan, Megan Hershey, Linda Hagen Miller, Angie Smith, Stacey Mainer, Kay Ely, Nancy Englund, and Wayne Krafft. Dia Maurer surrendered the use of her garage for staging and organized the effort.

And last, but certainly not least, our sponsors. Without their generous underwriting, Into Africa Auction would not have been nearly as successful.

Asante Sana,
Eileen Dugger and Patti Krafft,
Auction Co-Chairs
